Introduction

The Comapi Rapids adventure focuses on jungle trekking, survival skills, and learning about the rainforest and land animals of the jungle. You will learn how to build a shelter in the jungle, start a fire, and cook your delicious meals. Nothing tastes as good, as freshly caught and freshly cooked fish from the Amazon river. There are so many different tasty fish in the Amazon river basin, and each guide has his very favorite. Find out what your favorite fish is.

We can also customize the tour if there is something special you want to experience. Let us know beforehand or tell your guide on the tour. We are here to give you the perfect Amazon jungle experience.

Your tour always starts and ends in Manaus. We pick you up at your hotel in Manaus, on the morning of your first tour day. From there all transportation is included. After the tour, we bring you back to your hotel. If you want to be dropped off at another location, like for example the airport, we can do that as well.

Payment on our website is completely secure and encrypted by our payment provider. They use HTTPS secure connections and AES-256 encryption to ensure your data is protected. Your payment is non-refundable.

If you are a group of more than 8 people, or if you have any questions about the tour, please contact us on WhatsApp, through the icon on this page, or send an email to adventure@amazondeepjungletours.com. We are always at your service.

Itinerary

Day 1

Your adventure begins at 6:00 a.m. when your guides pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport. The flight from Manaus to Tefé leaves promptly at 8:00 a.m., and you will be able to spend the hour-long flight enjoying the lush, scenic views of the jungle.

We will arrive in Tefé around 9:00 a.m., and you will have three hours to check in, unpack and refresh yourself for the rest of the day’s activities. At noon, we will take you on a grand tour of the market. We’ll eat lunch there, and then we will head to the dock for an exciting water excursion.

We will travel up the Amazon river a short way to the community of Missão. Here you will have the chance to learn more about the rich history of the Amazon as well as the indigenous people and their culture.

Later that afternoon, we’ll make the short journey back to Tefé for an evening of casual birdwatching and dinner before returning to the hotel for a full night of rest.

Accommodation – Overnight in Tefé

Day 2

On the second day, we will leave from Tefé at 6:00 a.m. by speedboat and make the journey to Maraã. We will arrive in Maraã around noon, and we will have lunch with the locals before taking a walking tour of the community.

At 1:00 p.m., we will leave Maraã and begin the jungle tour in earnest. For this portion of the tour, we will travel upriver in a large, covered canoe and arrive at lake Comapi by 6:00 p.m. that evening. During the trip, you will be able to get your first real glimpses of the wild beauty of the Amazon. Your guides will be able to answer questions and point out interesting features of the river and the jungle.

Once we have arrived at the lake, your guides will show you how to set up a secure campsite in the jungle. You will learn how to string up hammocks, drape mosquito netting, and store items safely.

After setting up camp, your guides will take you to the lake and teach you how to spearfish as you all catch food for the evening meal. After a fresh-caught meal, it will be time for your first night excursion.

You and your guides will sail out in search of a wild black caiman. The guide will catch one so that you can examine it up close, and you will be able to learn all about these interesting and ancient creatures. The guide will release it back into the water unharmed, so you don’t have to worry about the creature’s well-being at any point.

After the night excursion, your group will return to the lakeside camp to sleep.

Accommodation – Overnight in the jungle camp

Day 3

The third day will start at 5:30 a.m. so that you can watch the breathtaking sunrise over Lake Comapi. Breakfast will be at 7:00 a.m., and then we will prepare to venture deeper into the Amazon rainforest. We will travel by speedboat as far as we can, and when the river narrows, we will switch to small canoes until we reach the rapids.

As we travel deeper into the jungle, you will be able to see many of the native animal species. Your guides will point out animals like monkeys, macaws, giant otters, caimans, and various reptile species along the way. You will also get a chance to try your hand at bow fishing as well.

We will arrive at the rapids around 11:00 a.m., and after we have set up camp, you will have the opportunity to swim in the rapids and enjoy the beauty of the jungle and the water.

In the evening, we will once again go spearfishing for dinner, and your guides will teach you about hunting small animals. After dinner, the rest of the night will be free for rest, and you will get to be lulled to sleep by the soothing sounds of the rapids.

Accommodation – Overnight in Lake Comapi camp

Day 4

The fourth day will start with breakfast beside the Comapi rapids, and then we will begin the four-hour hike to Três Lagos, or Three Lakes.

During the hike, your guides will point out various plants that the indigenous people use for food, medicine, and everyday life. You will also be able to ask questions about the jungle and learn how to spot animal tracks along the path. Because your group will be traveling in a relatively untouched area of the Amazon rainforest, you will have a unique opportunity to see many more kinds of plants and animals than if you were to trek through more commercialized areas.

Once we arrive at Três Lagos, we will hunt for agouti and spotted paca, both of which are large members of the rodent family, similar in appearance to guinea pigs or small capybaras. The afternoon and evening will be spent swimming, relaxing, and once again fishing for our dinner.

Overall, this day will be spent at a more relaxed pace so that you can have adequate time to enjoy the natural beauty of the rainforest and the lakes.

Accommodation – Overnight in Lake Comapi camp

Day 5

The fifth day will begin with breakfast at 8:00 a.m., and then we will prepare for a long, exciting day of canoeing, fishing, and hunting deep in the heart of the jungle.

We will take the hammocks and enough supplies for making an overnight camp deep in the jungle, and then we will set off at 9:00 a.m. in the canoes. Much of the day will be spent paddling up the small, branching creeks of the Amazon river to experience more of the untamed beauty of the rainforest. Throughout the journey, we will hunt, fish, and gather everything we need from the bounty of the jungle.

In the evening, we will set up camp much deeper in this wild portion of the jungle, and you will have the opportunity to get close to birds, rodents, reptiles, insects, and animals that you will likely never get to see anywhere else.

Accommodation – Overnight in the deep jungle camp

Day 6

The day will begin bright and early at 5:00 a.m., which means that you’ll get to see the entire rainforest wake up with the sunrise. After we have a quick breakfast, we will make our way back to the lakeside base camp and pack everything up for the return journey.

Once we break down the lakeside camp, we will travel to Agua Branca or White Lake. The ecosystem of this lake is completely different from what you’ve experienced so far, so you will get to see new species of wildlife, trees, and plants.

We will fish for piranha, and birdwatch, observe the black caimans and catch fresh fish for dinner using bows, spears, and nets; and then we will head back to Maraã Lake to make camp for the night.

Accommodation – Overnight in Maraã Lake camp

Day 7

Day seven begins at sunrise, and we will have breakfast overlooking the lake that morning. After breakfast, there will be leisure time to swim, birdwatch, and simply immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.

We will break down our small camp, and by 11:00 a.m. we will be on board a large, comfortable boat to make our return journey from Maraã to Manaus.

Accommodation – Overnight in the slow boat cabin

Day 8

The final full day of the tour will be spent on the boat, which means that you can completely relax and enjoy traveling as the locals do. You will be able to walk along the spacious deck to get expansive, breathtaking views of the river and the jungle from the boat.

There will be plenty of comfortable seating as well as televisions and a snack bar for your convenience. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served on board the boat, and you will be able to watch the sunset over the water and see the star-studded night sky with no impediments or artificial lights.

Accommodation – Overnight in the slow boat cabin

Day 9

This is the final day of the adventure. The boat will arrive in Manaus around 6:00 a.m., and this will mark the end of the journey.

  • God! That was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life! I will always dream of the “hunting” of the Caymans during the night, where we could see the stars and the planets in the sky. Also, the night camping was unbelievable. Our guide Sami was a real survivor of the jungle and a really gifted man. So if you are thinking about taking a trip to the Amazon, I suggest Amazon Deep Jungle Tours 100%!!!

  • This was a great trip, where we got to witness what living in the Amazon was like. Juma was our guide, and knowledgeable about all the ways of living in the Amazon. He led us on the nature hike, pirana fishing, dolphin watching, and caiman catching. It was a very unique experience to sleep outside in a hammock and hear all the numerous sounds of Amazonian animals at night. Overall, a great trip to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil!

  • I will never forget the magnificent trip to the Amazon. We camped in the jungle and learned many survival techniques in the jungle with the indigenous people. We had two encounters with jaguars, one spotted and one rare black jaguar. It was all wonderful and I have to thank everyone who made this tour come true. Super recommended to my friends looking for an adventure in the jungle.

  • I went on the adventure tour in Maraa and I would highly recommend it. It was an unbelievable experience! The team that was with me was the best. Samir knows everything about animals and plants. Mikaias’ skills are absolutely mental! He can spear a fish in the water at night from 3 meters away! Really impressive! If you want to experience a real slice of life in the jungle you should definitely go through this company. I made memories that I will cherish forever.

  • We had an amazing experience with Amazon Deep Jungle Tours. The guides were excellent, and what we saw and experienced was great, piranha fishing, fishing, and hunting, canoeing, hiking through the forest with experienced explanations, traveling the river by day and night, camping in a great spot, swimming, wildlife, crocodile spotting. Amazon is not to be taken lightly. It is a place that requires a lot of respect and good guidance. The guys did a great job on that.

  • Best experience EVER. I think this may well be the most enthusiastic I have ever felt about an organised trip! 5 out of 5 stars is a huge understatement! We were three girls in our 20s who spent quite a while trying to find the amazon tour that was perfect for us, this one well and truly exceeded our expectations!
